Sjava, Emtee, Saudi & Ruff Reflect Years Of Growth & Creative Reunion Leading To ‘The Trap Temptations’ Album Release. South African hip hop collective ATM has officially stepped back into the spotlight with the release of their long-awaited collaborative album, The Trap Temptations.

The project arrives as a celebration of brotherhood, perseverance, and artistic growth, bringing together four artists whose journeys have shaped both their individual identities and their collective legacy.
At a time when many reunions lean heavily on nostalgia, ATM has chosen a different path. Rather than revisiting the past, Ruff, Sjaya, Emtee and Saudi use The Trap Temptations to showcase how far they have come. The album balances the chemistry that first connected them with a more refined sound that reflects years of personal and professional evolution.
Created during a series of intensive recording camps in the scenic foothills of the Drakensberg, as well as sessions in Malelane, Mpumalanga and Johannesburg, the project became a space for reflection, reconnection and creative rediscovery. The result is a body of work that feels deeply rooted in the group’s origins while confidently embracing the future.
“This album represents our brotherhood, and we are also trying to give our people a picture of how much we have grown musically as a collective,” says Ruff.
ATM earned its place in South African music history by introducing a distinctly local interpretation of trap music. Their sound blended hard-hitting production with rich melodies, personal storytelling and a uniquely African perspective, helping reshape the genre’s landscape and influence a generation of artists.
With The Trap Temptations, the group reminds listeners that their story is still being written.
“People watched us change the sound and the culture, but what matters most is that we’re still here, still growing and still making real music that connects with people,” Emtee reflects.
The album also serves as a deeply personal chapter for the members, capturing the lessons, challenges and triumphs they experienced during years spent pursuing their own paths.
“This project reflects everything we’ve experienced as artists and as people,” says Sjaya. “Every experience we went through individually added something meaningful to the music and to the connection between us.”
For Saudi, the release carries an even greater emotional significance. Having shared a creative bond with Ruff, Emtee and Sjaya for more than 15 years, he views the album as the fulfilment of a dream years in the making.
“My biggest fear has always been coming to the end of my career someday without this project having been a part of it,” he says. “This is not just a full circle moment for me, it’s a dream come true.”
Far more than a reunion project, The Trap Temptations stands as a statement of resilience, maturity and continued relevance. It captures the hunger and raw energy that first introduced ATM to the world while embracing the wisdom gained through years of growth and experience.
As the collective reclaims its place at the forefront of African trap music, the album serves as a reminder that evolution and loyalty can exist side by side. The circle may have come full circle, but for ATM, a bold new chapter is only beginning.
